About Me
- Name: phillip rauls
- Location: Seattle area, United States
Having departed a hastened lifestye in the record business for over four decades, I wanted to do something different. That's when I became a urban dropout and moved 65 miles Northwest of Seattle into a rural setting. Upon relocation, I reinvented myself and experienced a pleasant transformation. Often I get asked about my background in the music business. For those inquiries please visit my Web Site posted in links section. I enjoy living in The Great Pacific Northwest. You have mountains, ocean, fields and valleys. My residence is located hillside on an island overlooking snow-cap mountains and the ocean. Hobbies include motorcycling on country roads and relaxing at sunset with camera in hand. I'm still a music-bum and a relentless basketball nut. Sometimes back I archived all my photographs and music for reference. After boxing them away for years, I finally retrieved them for curiosity. After blowing off the dust of my treasure chests, I found some very interesting memorabilia. In 2005 we launched this blog while using my own photos & original stories. While building on that success, we now have a new book out titled "The Rock Trenches."

I use to hold Zeppelin and Jimmy Page in high regard, until I started hearing rumors that Page lifted a lot of the Zep songs without giving anyone any credit. I mean, I know some of them are based on traditional blues songs..but those are usually noted. I heard that Stairway and Dazed and Confused were lifted from other sources and not credited. What do you think about those accusations?

I think it's kind of sad that you would not hold him in high regard anymore for simply doing what many artists (not just musicians) have done throughout time. Sure some of his influences were quite obvious because they were almost -- almost being the key word here -- direct lifts, but does that make him and his band mates any less talented or influential? No. Sure they should have given credit at times -- but if you know anything about the band and it's members I think you'd know that they were a very rushed band that had no interest in legalities and unfortunately -- and naively -- ignored them because of that. I highly doubt they intended on making money directly off of others tunes or anything of the like; they were just playing what they loved and because of that I don't think there's any reason to literally lose respect for them.
Are you sure this photo is of page? It doesn't look like him. Where did it come from?
