Experiencing Photolog-Jones?

The editor of the PHOTOLOG is currently on vacation in Japan and will return with new posts in December. If you are currently experiencing a case of Photolog-Jones in this absence, please take a tour of our vast archives section positioned at below right.

Posted there are volumes of stories and photos of Pop Culture and the music business. This includes stories from the early days at STAX Records, Atlantic Records and photographs both original and the work of noted photo journalist.

Future postings will reveal even more untold stories and pix's from being in the rock trenches and told by a veteran record executive. From the days of Twentieth Century Fox Records, the Memphis music scene and the glory days at EMI Records. Stay tuned, the best is yet to come!

Jay Green said...: Dear Mr Rauls, I am seaching for a photograph of Steve Cropper that I think is the quitessential R&B/Soul/Rock&Roll guitar picture. It is featured on the Stax, Booker T & the MG's website and is credited to you. It is a black and white photo and has Steve leaning back and playing a white telecaster. I think he is wearing a suede jacket. It is a 60's era photo. Is there anyway I could get a copy of the photo? Could it be sent digitally? Thanks for your help. I really enjoyed you blog.

Alan said...: MAY i MAKE WHAT MAY SEEM A RUDE statement (I was drawn to a post - by a friend - about Furry Lewis, however I noticed going through your blog something lifeless, and indeed something which you say you've been apart of that has given life to you-- music.
It is missing from the blog. Music gives life to everything (ha, I'm tell you) The silent movie even had music. Some movies are messed up by the score, never-the-less, without music there is no life.

Having departed a hastened lifestye in the record business for over four decades, I wanted to do something different. That's when I became a urban dropout and moved 65 miles Northwest of Seattle into a rural setting. Upon relocation, I reinvented myself and experienced a pleasant transformation. You have mountains, ocean, fields and valleys. My residence is located hillside on an island overlooking snow-cap mountains and the ocean. Hobbies include motorcycling on country roads and relaxing at sunset with camera in hand. I'm still a music-bum and a relentless basketball nut. Sometimes back I archived all my photographs and music for reference. After boxing them away for years, I finally retrieved them for curiosity. After blowing off the dust of my treasure chests, I found some very interesting memorabilia. In 2005 we launched this blog while using my own photos & original stories. While building on that success, we now have a new book out titled "The Rock Trenches."
