Two Music Icons Share Friendship

Two Music Icons share a moment in 2012 while attending a Living Room Concert located in the Seattle area at the home of music executive, promoter & book author Phillip Rauls. On the left is legendary songwriter & recording artist Keith Sykes as he is joined with Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Roger Fisher. Keith Skyes is noted for co-writing the John Prine song "You Got Gold" from Prine's Grammy Winning Album "The Missing Years." Sykes also wrote two of Jimmy Buffett's monster hits "Coast Of Marseilles" and "Volcano" among others. On right is guitarist Roger Fisher, founding member of Heart, who co-wrote several of the group's biggest hits, "Barracuda" "Crazy On You" and "Mistral Wind." The Rock Trenches salutes these two gifted music legends and is honored to call them our friends!

When Memphis Music 'Movers & Shakers' were ignored by the all-mighty Memphis Media

Here's a classic photo from the early 1980's of a influential group of Memphis Music 'movers & shakers' gathered at Cotton Row Recording Studio located in the heart of a city known worldwide for its contribution to global music. (L-R) (#1) Niko Lyras, Engineer-Producer-Studio Owner-Recording Artist; (#2) Martha Ellen Maxwell (1928-2014), Exec. Director Memphis & Shelby County Film, Tape & Music Commission, and Former Exec. Director of the Memphis Symphony Orch; (#3) Edwin Hubbard (1935-1997) Performing & Recording Artist-Flutist Extraordinaire; (#4) Danny Jones, Engineer-Producer-well-acknowledged Musician; (#5) Phillip Rauls, owner of Rauls Music-Promoter-Publisher-Executive Producer-Photographer. Please note: If by chance you are not familiar with any of these music business individuals, try Googling their individual names for a wealth of updated information. Whereas at the time, the local newspapers, local magazines and TV media did not bother to acknowledge these individuals for their distinguished accomplishments.
